What will I experience?

On the Boots Summer Placement Programme for pharmacy students, you'll spend 8 weeks in a community pharmacy – working for one of the largest pharmacy-led retailers in the UK. We have over 2700 Pharmacies nationwide and over 22 million customers visiting us every year. So, you can be sure that during your time with us you'll learn how to put your University knowledge into practice. It's all about real life experience, for your real life career.

These are paid work placements, so you'll receive a salary along with holiday.

The experience

During the 8 weeks, you'll:

  • Work alongside experienced healthcare teams; gaining insight you can't gain in the classroom
  • Have daily contact with patients; learning to handle a diverse range of people and problems
  • Benefit from the support of a dedicated Tutor; someone to help you every step of the way.

What's more, we'll give you a student file that's packed full of useful information and eLearning modules that ensure you get the very most from this experience. You'll also be invited to our dedicated welcome day, where you can meet all the other Boots Pharmacy Placement students from your region – and find out more about your placement and the opportunities at Boots.

Most of the placements start around the beginning of June - although the exact date will vary depending on your location and year group. If you are based in the Republic of Ireland, then you'll find that there are two intakes; one at the beginning of June and one at the end of July. Your offer will tell you your start date.

Once you've completed your placement, you'll have the opportunity to catch up with everyone again to swap stories and share the best bits of your new found confidence.

It all adds up to an unforgettable experience that could be the first step in a long and successful career with Boots.
