At Boots, we believe that learning is the only way to keep getting better. You'll be joining over 4,000 Pharmacists dispensing over 160 million prescription medicines every year, all of whom benefit from 'Continuous Professional Development' (CPD) and a challenging, highly-supported pharmacy experience.

From day one, you'll embark on a structured induction programme that's specifically designed for you, as a professional from outside the UK. This will include on-the-job training and an off-site clinical workshop. Once you have completed this training, you'll be given professional, clinical and management modules that are tailored to your individual needs and skills. If you have a special interest or you want to qualify as an independent prescriber, you can train to be involved in running clinics for patients with conditions such as addictions, hypertension or diabetes.

You'll be supported by a Tutor and your healthcare team in store. You'll have regular contact with local Development Managers to ensure that things are going well for you and a company website that offers the latest research articles, CPD resources, regular news updates and discussion groups.

Our services

We work with other healthcare professionals, the National Health Service, patients, local authorities and carers to develop the finest healthcare for our customers.

Our pharmacies provide a range of core Prescription Services that include repeat dispensing, prescription collection and a home delivery service. We supply medicines direct to patients over-the-counter and make recommendations to meet their immediate needs. We're also involved in a wide range of National Health Service (NHS) pharmacy services such as medicine use reviews (MUR's), supervised administration for substance misusers, needle exchange, NHS patient group directions, minor ailment schemes in England and Wales and smoking cessation schemes. In many areas, our patients also benefit from a range of Private Pharmacy Services some of which are unique to Boots. These include our hair retention programme and a pharmacologically-based weight loss programme.

Our professional environment

Your immediate surroundings are incredibly important. To deliver the best professional advice it's important that you operate in a modern, highly-equipped environment. We've invested around £65 million in our new pharmacy store format - your local Boots pharmacy - completely refurbishing over 800 of our smaller, community pharmacies. With new systems, fresh layouts and more dedicated consulting areas, we'll be offering our customers a wider range of services. But whether this is the kind of store you like to work in, or you're attracted to one of our large, multi-level health and beauty stores, you can be confident that you'll benefit from a great, customer-focused environment and excellent modern facilities. And with clinical and retail career opportunities increasing all the time, you'll have every opportunity to maximise your potential.
