Flora tells us why she made a move to North Wales and has never looked back...
My story is about how Boots helped me to redress my work/life balance - even before I'd started working here!
In October 2009, my fiancè accepted a job offer in North Wales. At the time I was also considering a career change, having worked in hospital pharmacy for the last 7 years. I approached Boots without hesitation because of their reputation and told them I was looking to relocate from Canterbury.
I was very impressed how quickly my initial enquiry was passed onto the Pharmacist Development & Deployment Manager in the area. He was very helpful, directing me to the suitable roles in North Wales and showing me what the region had to offer, but always taking an interest in my needs.
It helped me to understand what Boots expect of their pharmacists and how someone with my background in clinical pharmacy could make the best use of their experience here.
Within a month of enquiring, I was successfully interviewed and was offered the role most suited to my experience and lifestyle. A month later, I made the move!
Today I'm enjoying my new life in beautiful North Wales. I feel settled into my role and able to build meaningful relationships within the community. I've been supported in making the transition from hospital to community pharmacy by my knowledgeable team in store and by the extensive network of Boots pharmacists who are never too far away.
Anyone thinking of making the change from hospital to community pharmacy or considering relocation should not be put off by the prospect of having to retrain as there is a strong culture of CPD at Boots.
