For Pharmacists

For all Pharmacists

  • Induction For new Pharmacists, our Step-In Boots programme provides pre-joining information and a structured 13-week experience as you start to work in our pharmacies and stores.
  • Continuing Professional Development (CPD) All practising pharmacists receive face-to-face development through our annual CPD days. These days include clinical sessions and support completion of your CPD records.
  • 30-minute tutor is an award-winning, modular programme developed to improve knowledge about ailments and relevant product groups, offer handy hints to tell our customers and focus on Boots branded products and other key brands.
  • Medicine checks is comprehensive training and assessment to help pharmacists become accredited in Medical Check-ups.

Further professional training

  • Boots Private Patient Group Directions training involves face-to-face development, practical training or completion of online modules to ensure you're confident to become accredited to provide these pharmacy services at Boots.
  • Postgraduate diploma - a mixture of distance learning and study days at a selected university.

For Pharmacist Store Managers

  • Stay ahead is a bespoke store management development planner for pharmacists who run a Boots store. An individual assessment helps you identify key areas and signposts relevant resources.

For newly qualified pharmacists

  • ASPIRE, our development programme, includes a mix of professional, leadership and management modules. ASPIRE face-to-face development days are designed to support your work in today's community pharmacy. All of this comes on top of the training/accreditation you need to deliver pharmacy services under the pharmacy NHS contract.

For Dispensers

Dispenser Training aims to develop confident, competent team members who can provide excellent customer care to prescription customers as well as working safely to dispensary policies and procedures. The programme starts with an introduction to dispensing and moves on to cover everything from stock control and procedures to ethics and drug tariffs.

We also invite all our Dispensers to an annual development day where you can put your ideas forward on changes in pharmacy and how we can maximise our success.

Pharmacy Services NVQ level 3 If you want to progress to become an ACT at Boots, we'll help you to attain NVQ level 3, which allows you to register as a Pharmacy Technician with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB). Our course is a 2-year distance-learning programme comprising 18 modules and focuses on building your knowledge, collecting NVQ evidence and putting together a portfolio.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

All practising Pharmacy Technicians receive face-to-face development through our annual CPD days. Our people tell us they enjoy the sessions on these days and the support in completing their CPD records.

Accuracy Checking Technicians Course

For Pharmacy Technicians interested in taking on an extended role, our ACT course consists of a 2-day out-of-store workshop to kick off the training, at least 3 months' experience in a pharmacy and finally a practical assessment. There's support from a Supervising Pharmacist to help you to complete your portfolio of evidence and to successfully attain your ACT qualification.
