"I've been doing the Stepping Stones programme. It's hard, you're learning to run the whole business, but I felt so pleased to get onto the programme."
How do we back up our commitment to be the best pharmacy-led retailer? Simple: by offering some of the industry's best training and development - designed to support our Pharmacists and Dispensers, whatever level they're at.
For all Pharmacists
Further professional training
For Pharmacist Store Managers
For newly qualified pharmacists
Dispenser Training aims to develop confident, competent team members who can provide excellent customer care to prescription customers as well as working safely to dispensary policies and procedures. The programme starts with an introduction to dispensing and moves on to cover everything from stock control and procedures to ethics and drug tariffs.
We also invite all our Dispensers to an annual development day where you can put your ideas forward on changes in pharmacy and how we can maximise our success.
Pharmacy Services NVQ level 3 If you want to progress to become an ACT at Boots, we'll help you to attain NVQ level 3, which allows you to register as a Pharmacy Technician with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB). Our course is a 2-year distance-learning programme comprising 18 modules and focuses on building your knowledge, collecting NVQ evidence and putting together a portfolio.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
All practising Pharmacy Technicians receive face-to-face development through our annual CPD days. Our people tell us they enjoy the sessions on these days and the support in completing their CPD records.
Accuracy Checking Technicians Course
For Pharmacy Technicians interested in taking on an extended role, our ACT course consists of a 2-day out-of-store workshop to kick off the training, at least 3 months' experience in a pharmacy and finally a practical assessment. There's support from a Supervising Pharmacist to help you to complete your portfolio of evidence and to successfully attain your ACT qualification.
