"You get to talk to different people all day"
Qualifications when I started Boots: A-levels plus a degree in Optometry
My Career so far: I applied to Boots after finishing my degree because I'd heard that they had a good Pre Reg scheme. I did my Pre Reg year in the Harrogate store then moved around within the company quite a lot, working in York and Pontefract before settling in Leeds. I've been here for 12 years now.
My typical day: It's a nine-to-five job with a different patient to see every 25 minutes. There's a lot of variation - you get to talk to different people all day.
The best thing about Boots: It's a big company so there's plenty of back-up if you have a problem. I also like the variety, in terms of customers and colleagues.
Choose a Christmas present for your mum at Boots, what would it be?
“It would probably be one of those big sanctuary spa sets, with all the luxury products- absolutely gorgeous stuff. She always likes things like that.”
If you had to leave Boots tomorrow, what’s the one thing you would miss the most?
“I’d probably miss the people I work with. If you’re not working in a place like this you probably don’t work with so many people, it’s a really lovely environment to be in.”
Do you do any exercise?
“Not really, I’m looking after 3 children and working so that tends to take up most of my time generally”
Do you have a favourite customer?
“Actually one of my old teacher’s comes in. She comes in quite a lot, and she made the comment that she liked me at school because I was articulate. I think that was a very polite way of saying I couldn’t shut up in class. But still she was very lovely about I think she could be my favourite one.”
