Job title: Optometrist Practice Manager
Qualifications: BSc (Hons) in MCOptom
My career so far: I joined Boots in 1995 after deciding that I needed to push myself more in my career. I did my summer placement at Boots, then my Pre Reg year. After qualifying, I worked as an Optometrist in the High Wycombe store, then moved up to Senior Optometrist. I’ve been in my current role in Ealing for 18 months.
My typical day: Breakfast. Brief my team. See patients. See more patients. (Lunch is a luxury and very rare!) End of day paperwork. Swift one in the pub.
The best thing about my job: The staff discount and my work colleagues. And meeting 20 different people every day, all with a different story to tell or advice to give.
What was your first ever job?
“My first ever job was actually with Boots, I’ve always been with Boots, so I’m Boots through and through.”
If you had to leave Boots tomorrow, what’s the one thing you’d miss the most?
“If I had to leave Boots, it would probably be my friends. And easily my staff discount, I use it all the time!”
How do your mates feel about you being on the website?
“I haven’t told them, because I know they’d probably rip into me, but I might show them this after.”
Why do you love what you do?
“I love what I do because I get to meet 20-30 different new people everyday. And they’ve always got a story to tell! Work is kind of like play time for
us as well, because it’s work but we also have a laugh. It’s really good- I love it.”
