Whatever stage of your career you're at, we'll provide the training and development you need to maximize your potential.

We're the only optical chain to offer accredited training for Optical Retailing NVQs - all our Optical Consultants have the chance to take Apprenticeships and Advanced Apprenticeships.

You start with a four-week Induction Programme to welcome you to Boots Opticians and help you get to know the branch environment. Then you'll start your Apprenticeship Programme - the NVQ Level 2 in Optical Retailing as well as our Key Skills training, supported throughout by a personal 'buddy' and your Branch Manager. The programme includes 7 days' training at our custom-built centre where some of our colleagues make friends for life.

Once you've completed your Level 2 Apprenticeship and have some optical consulting experience, you'll have the opportunity to achieve an NVQ Level 3 (the Advanced Apprenticeship) and to become a Senior Optical Consultant. We encourage all our colleagues to consider this as a career opportunity. It takes around 18 months and the skills people gain typically make their basic salary 30% higher than when they joined us.
