"Behind every great pharmacist is a great team. Their contribution frees up pharmacists to spend more time with their patients."
Becoming a Pharmacy Technician offers you a host of benefits, both professionally and personally. With an IPU/DIT Pharmacy Technician qualification, you will be preparing for an exciting future in dispensing and pharmacy services. No one understands the importance of professional development better than Boots, so you'll also find additional training and support to help you maintain your clinical knowledge.
We look for experience that allows you to deal with more complex patient enquiries (we've invested in technology that reduces paperwork, so you can spend more time talking to patients, and less time filling in forms).
From here, there are no limits; you can develop additional skills such as training or perhaps developing to become a Healthcare Team Manager. And, if you're ambitious, our huge network of pharmacies means there's plenty of opportunity for promotion.
As a qualified Dispenser, you'll find there's more to a career with Boots Ireland than dispensing medicines and prescriptions.
We love Dispensers whose positivity is apparent - who can understand customers' needs, offer helpful and accurate advice and recommend the right over-the-counter products.
Dispensing is a well-regarded profession that requires specialist skills. Whilst you don't need any specific qualifications to enter as a trainee, you'll need experience within a healthcare environment and will also complete our Healthcare Advisor course. Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn will help you get there, as well as a passion for providing great service to our customers. If you're confident, organised, and have a conscientious approach, you'll fit in well.
To become an integral part of the team, our Trainee Dispensers work alongside others at the heart of the pharmacy while they're training.
We'll take you through our own tailored dispenser training programme making sure you have the time to study around your work and other commitments, with full support throughout. You'll learn how to dispense prescriptions, recommend over-the-counter medicines and give basic healthcare advice - helping customers get the products they need to feel better.
