My story is about treating everyone like an individual to ensure they feel amazing and special.
One day, a filming company requested to film a programme in our store. The programme was ‘A day in the life of an Albino girl’. The girl was in her late teens and had just started to experiment with cosmetics. As we all know Albinos have very pale skin, pink eyes and white hair. She was interested in purchasing some cosmetics but other retailers had told her they had no colours to suit her skin.
Here at Boots we are always taught to treat every customer as special regardless of their ethnic origin or physical appearance. The girl was clearly nervous especially with the cameras on her but our No7 Advisor quickly made her feel at ease.
The consultant spent some time with her discussing what kind of colours she likes to wear, letting her know that her opinion is important. The consultant then gave her a little lesson on how to apply make-up and asked her opinion the whole way through to ensure that she knew that she was been listened to. The consultant applied Lift & Luminate foundation in Alabaster and it suited the girl perfectly, she was delighted to find a colour she could wear. At the end of the consultation the girl told the No7 Advisor that she made her feel really special. She left our store delighted - more importantly she left feeling beautiful.
Here at Boots we pride ourselves in giving excellent customer care to every customer and it’s only through the great training we constantly receive that we are equipped to do so. I feel so proud to work for a company who put such time and effort into developing their staff to ensure that we give the best possible service to our customers. All we did was know our products and recommend a specific one; simple really, but in that moment it changed a customer’s confidence forever. It’s not this magical everyday but there are little things all the time that make me think how lucky I am to work here.
