Brand, Buying and Marketing

Our Brand Exclusives team owns the Boots brand and is focused on increasing our share of the health and beauty market in the UK and globally. Join us here, and you could find yourself working on famous brands like No7, Soap & Glory or Soltan – and you could even help us develop an entirely new range for Christmas. Put simply, you’ll see how we turn ideas into reality. This could be the team for you if you’re proactive, creative, detailed and focused on quality.

 In Buying, we own category plans and handle pricing and promotions. It’s a fast-paced place to be – we need to react to ever-changing markets whilst anticipating customer needs. You’ll help us set up new lines, manage the annual plans for your ranges and create offers that will be big hits in our stores. A passion for retail and a strong commercial eye are both essential here.

Our Marketing teams deliver world-class communications to our customers, whether that’s through our award-winning TV campaigns or via our legendary Advantage Card scheme. Join us, and you’ll make sure we deliver communications that inspire and excite our customers. To make all this happen, you should be passionate about delivering exactly what our customers want.

Supply Chain

Our Supply Chain team makes sure the right products get to the right places at the right time. For you, it’s the chance to gain a true operational knowledge of our business, and develop fantastic people management skills. Within Supply Chain we have a dedicated Logistics team that supports our operations and helps us work efficiently and cost-effectively.

Our Supply Chain Development team works on a variety of planning and implementation projects, driving efficiency across the business. A role here will see you taking on project management responsibilities and working across all levels of our business to make sure we reduce our supply chain costs while maximising our efficiency. It’s a fantastic opportunity to develop your IT, analytical and communication skills.

Our Retail Supply team has the vital role of ensuring our shops are well stocked throughout the year. You’ll use your communication skills to get to know our replenishment system and learn how to deliver and implement supply business plans.

Finance

Finance provides insight and strategic advice to our decision makers. There are three key areas within Finance – Financial Accounting, which operates our financial ledgers and coordinates our month-end processes for financial transactions; Management Information, which produces budgeting and forecasting; and Business Partnering, which is the link between finance and the wider business.

Throughout your year with us, you’ll provide financial insights that will enable your colleagues to make the right decisions. You’ll learn how to effectively analyse data, and by the end of your placement you’ll have a good understanding of how finance works in a complex, market-leading retail business. We want people who are passionate about providing world-class financial advice and who have the ability to build great relationships with people across the business. You should be enthusiastic, inquisitive and committed to always delivering your best.

IT

With innovation and customer care at the heart of everything that we do, IT is vital to our success. Some of our recent projects include the rebranding of around 1,000 community pharmacies and integrating our main site into Boots WebMD (one of the UK’s leading providers of online healthcare advice). At the 2010 Retail Week Technology Awards, we were voted as the ‘Multi-channel Integration Project of the Year’ for the work we’ve done to make sure our customers have ease of access, convenience and choice. During your year, you’ll work in our Delivery function and take responsibility for leading a real business placement. We have some big, exciting projects ahead of us – and you’ll be able to put your own stamp on them.
